Customer wants to use a coupon on a sale item and can’t understand why the salesperson won’t “double dip” on the purchase. The salesperson is firm and says the customer can’t have it both ways. The upset customer abandons their cart and leaves. How can the salesperson better communicate the store policy on double discounts?

Double discounts are not honored by the store. The salesperson should explain this, help the customer determine the best discount available and proceed with the sale.
